Why Saffron Maths?
It is a common misconception that you either can or cannot do maths, however I do not agree. With the right guidance and best teaching methods it's a subject that anyone can understand and excel in. I believe that students can reach their potential through being taught an understanding of the subject rather than simply learning a method. This is the prime reason why I created Saffron Maths.
With several years of tutoring experience and a First Class maths degree at the age of just 23, I believe I can offer a service that very few others can. While I tutored regularly alongside my degree, since finishing my degree I have progressed even further and have been tutoring several children over the last 12 months from ages 8 to 18. I can now combine my love and knowledge of maths, with my experience of tutoring to create a personal, approachable style to offer the best possible support for your child.
Saffron Maths has been set up by myself, Charlie Passfield. I started out at Great Chesterford C of E Primary School before moving on to Saffron Walden County High School. Here I achieved an A* in my maths GCSE as well as an A in both Maths and Further Maths A-levels. This allowed me to study maths at the University of Birmingham where I achieved a first class maths degree.
Outside of my maths, I am a keen cyclist racing at an international level. I have raced across Europe in countries such as France, Belgium, Greece and Czech Republic.
I offer a range of different services to help your child achieve their best from their maths. The options I have, are designed to suit all audiences, whether your child just needs that little boost from the odd one-to-one or group session, or whether they would benefit from our all inclusive 'Coaching', there is something to suit everyone. All three options can both be carried out both face to face or over video calling software.
'Maths Coaching' is the complete package to get the best out of your child. It includes:
Regular One-to-One Sessions
Unlimited Access to Group Sessions
Unlimited email contact with your tutor to get help as and when required
Unlimited homework help
Regular mock exams to assess the progress of your child
One-to-One sessions can either be booked as a one off leading up to an important school assessment or exam, or scheduled regularly throughout the year. These sessions can take place both in person or over video calling software (such as zoom).
Group sessions take place regularly with all upcoming sessions posted here on the website. These are first come, first served and are a great way to boost your childs' maths. The group atmosphere can provide an environment where the child can be more comfortable asking questions. These sessions vary from a lesson style format where a topic will be taught to everyone, or a drop-in style session. Here your child can sit and do their work with the ability to ask quesitons and go over topics they're unsure on with the tutor.
